FISUSTAJA – PRIVACY POLICY (iOS) Updated 1 August 2026 Applies to the Fisustaja app distributed through the App Store. 1. Data controller and contact Petri Tynkkynen (private individual) Email: petri.o.tynkkynen@gmail.com Questions about this policy or privacy can be sent to the address above. 2. In short Fisustaja does not require a user account, ask for a name or email address, contain advertising, or include analytics or tracking tools. The app does not create a user register. The user's own notes remain on the device. The only content that leaves the device is a water temperature you choose to report, and reporting is optional. 3. Data processed by the app 3.1 Location The app can use the approximate and precise device location to centre the map and show the user's position on it. - Location is processed only on the device and is not sent to the Fisustaja server or to third parties. - Location is not stored as location history. - Location is optional and the app works without location permission. - The app does not use location in the background. Location permission can be withdrawn at any time in the iPhone settings. 3.2 Notes and settings Map notes and app settings are stored only in the app's storage area on the device. They are not sent to the Fisustaja server and are not available to the developer. The data is removed when the app is uninstalled. iOS may include local app data in the user's iCloud backup according to their Apple settings. This is an Apple service and is not administered by the developer. 3.3 Subscription and purchase information Fisustaja Premium is purchased through Apple's StoreKit system. Apple provides the app with the product price and information indicating whether the Fisustaja Premium entitlement is active. The app processes transaction information on the device only to unlock Premium and restore purchases. The developer does not receive the user's payment card details, Apple Account password or other payment instrument details. Subscription or purchase information is not sent to the Fisustaja server. 3.4 Water temperatures reported by users You may report a water temperature for a point you pick on the map. Only the tapped coordinate, the reading, the time of measurement and any waterway identifier are stored on the Fisustaja server. The reading is shown on the map to other users. - The coordinate sent is the point picked on the map, NOT your own location. Device location is not sent in this feature either. - No name, device identifier, stored IP address or other personally identifying information is sent with the reading. - To prevent spam, the app generates a random identifier and sends it with the reading. It is not derived from the device or from you, it does not follow you to other apps, and it disappears when the app is uninstalled. - Reporting is entirely optional: the app works normally without it. You can edit and delete your own readings in the app. Deleting hides the reading from the map, but the row remains in the database; it carries no personal data. Someone else's reading can be reported as inappropriate, which hides it pending review. 3.5 Data not collected The app does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or behavioural or analytics data. 4. Network connections The base map is supplied with the app. More detailed map information and fishing data are retrieved from the following services: - The Fisustaja server (www.mobileapps.fi): map style, detailed map tiles, fishing spot scores, discharge and temperature data, temperatures reported by users, and app documents - Finnish Environment Institute SYKE (paikkatiedot.ymparisto.fi and rajapinnat.ymparisto.fi): river network, ecological status of waters, river search and hydrological data These services receive normal technical network information, such as the IP address, request time, and requested map area or search term. Device location, notes and Apple Account information are not sent to them. The Fisustaja server sets no cookies, uses no analytics and does not link traffic data to a person. Ordinary technical logs are created on the server and used to ensure service operation and security. SYKE is responsible for the privacy of traffic to its own services. The app's network connections use encrypted HTTPS connections. 5. App Store and Apple services The app is distributed through the App Store and uses Apple's StoreKit service to purchase the Premium subscription, check its validity and restore purchases. Apple processes information relating to the Apple Account, payments, purchase history, subscriptions, the device and use of the App Store under its own terms and privacy policy. The developer may see aggregated sales, installation and diagnostic information provided by Apple in App Store Connect. This information is not linked to a Fisustaja user account because the app has no user accounts. 6. Disclosure and transfer of data The developer does not sell or rent personal data. Apple and SYKE process information sent to them as independent parties under their own terms and privacy policies. 7. Retention periods Fisustaja does not maintain a personal data register. Notes and settings on the device remain until the user uninstalls the app. Technical server logs are retained only as long as needed for service operation and security. Apple determines the retention periods for purchase and account information held by Apple. 8. Children's privacy The app is not specifically directed at children and does not collect the user's age. 9. Information security Network connections use HTTPS encryption. Data stored on the device is protected by iOS per-app isolation. Apple verifies StoreKit transactions. 10. Your rights The EU General Data Protection Regulation gives you rights to access, rectify and erase personal data concerning you and to restrict its processing. Because Fisustaja does not maintain a user register, the developer does not normally hold information that can be linked to a user and disclosed, rectified or erased. Questions can be sent to the email address in section 1. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman in Finland (tietosuoja.fi). Requests concerning Apple data must be submitted to Apple. 11. Changes to this policy This policy may be updated as the app evolves. The current version is available in the app. Significant changes are announced in the app's release notes.
